Meet the Webmaster

“Hello Beautiful People!” That is the signature greeting that members and visitors received when Bishop James R. King was pastor at Clark. My name is Lynee Chavis Fielder. I am blessed to have been raised at, and still a member of, Clark Memorial United Methodist Church for five (yes, 5) decades. My brother, Jaye, and my sister, Kaye, were baptized, confirmed, matured, and raised our children here. As Phyllis Simpson, Tom Starling, Alice Croom and other ushers welcome you to our church on Sunday mornings it is my pleasure, along with our pastor, Rev. Herbert Lester, to welcome you to our church website. Allow me to give you a tour. As you explore from the Home page scroll down to open links to Youtube, FaceBook, & E-Zekiel tv and click on files with pdf to open documents.

Rev. W.C. Dobbins would say “Be in the proper place at the proper time.” I invite you to check our calendar for upcoming events, rehearsals, and services. You can access the pdf version of The Connection on the website by editor Wanda Clay and the communication committee.

Rev. Edward Bufford reminded us that “Life is a series of adjustments.” Read about our history from 1865-2015 which was assembled by Marilyn Talbort, Tommie Morton-Young, and Jesse Smith of history and archives committee.

As United Methodist we are a connectional church. Open the link to The Tennessee  United Methodist Church e-connector for conference information. Be sure to read the announcement of previous Clark pastor as newly assigned District Superintendent, Rev. Kennard Murray. Also, see The Upper Room for daily meditations.

I am the daughter of musician J.D. “Chick” Chavis so of course I’ve been singing at church since my first solo at seven years old when Rev. John G. Corry asked me to sing “Away in a Manger” for the Christmas program. Some of Nashville’s finest musicians lent their gifts to Clark including Eddie Goins, Mattie Flowers, Charlotte Rhodes, and Rod Bronaugh. The legendary Leonard Morton and his namesake son are present members of Clark’s orchestra- along with James Chavis, John Green, and Victor Davis. See the tab for music ministry for information about our choirs. Also, see the performance of the Guidance Liturgical Dancers.

United Methodist Women and United Methodist Men have strong leadership in the bible study groups at Clark so be sure to check their pages. On Sunday mornings you’re sure to hear UMW president Kim Goods, along with Vivian Fielder, Newtonia Coleman, and Helen Houston during book studies in the Temple classroom and theological discussions with UMM president Melvin Kirk with Ronnie Johnson and Fred Fielder in the Hayden classroom. Grace Brady and Jeannette Stewart give leadership and guidance in studying the lectionary scripture.

I hope you enjoy your visit at clarkumcnashville.org. To see recent sermons and church services click the link "more" on Pastor Lestor's opening slide.
